Peterborough Musicfest Season 34 Postponed

After much deliberation, and in consultation with public health officials, and local authorities, Musicfest staff announce, with very heavy hearts, that Peterborough Musicfest (PMF) will not proceed in 2020.

“To postpone an entire season – a first in our thirty-three year history – is disheartening to say the least,” says Brenda O’Brien, Peterborough Musicfest board chair.

“That said, these are unprecedented times that require concrete action to save lives. Our community, performers, staff members, contractors and volunteers deserve no less. Thank you to all – our friends, fans, and family – who have waited so patiently while we considered this difficult decision.”

PMF contributes more than $5 million to our region in direct investment and ancillary benefits (full hotels, bars and restaurants etc.). We know the festival’s postponement will be very difficult for many workers, businesses, attractions and performers to shoulder. Our promise to the community that has nurtured this festival at every step on its journey toward becoming the biggest festival of its kind in Canada is to firmly fix our sights on recovery.

To that end, we ask those sponsors who are able to hold fast to please consider doing so. Your support will help keep our small but mighty team working on a plan to come back stronger than ever in 2021.

To those sponsors who have told us their commitment to PMF is rock solid, despite our current difficulties, we sincerely thank you. This includes the City and County of Peterborough, and our provincial and federal government partners whose combined assistance has been nothing short of extraordinary.

We hope to have more information about new initiatives in the coming months, and we very much look forward to seeing you all in Del Crary Park in 2021 where we will once again join together to celebrate our spirited community with the life-giving force that is music.

In the meantime, please take care of yourselves and let us collectively offer our profound thanks to the heroes keeping us safe and well and to the creators keeping us engaged and connected.
