New Stages is thrilled to launch our 2024-25 season of professional theatre with a unforgettable stripped-down version of the Dora-award-winning play Vitals by Rosamund Small.
Vitals propels you into the life of a no-nonsense Toronto paramedic who has reached her breaking point. Based on interviews and stories with real EMS workers, Vitals is masterfully written, and anchored by an incredible performance from Katherine Cullen (who originated the role in Outside the March’s award-winning production in Toronto).
An edgy, visceral theatre event that you won’t want to miss.

SUDDENLY 50, written and performed by acclaimed B.C. playwright Nicolle Nattrass. Directed by T.J. Dawe. A funny and authentic play about a woman coming to terms with a mid-life crisis as she enters “Season” 50 of her incredible life. A staged reading, and a delightful companion piece to Clown Fish.
CLOWN FISH,written and performed by Paul Tedeschini. Directed by T.J. Dawe. An immersive multi-media theatre experience that transports you to another world. Watch as writer, clown, and sound designer Paul Tedeschini takes the insular, isolating experience of grief and anxiety and transforms it into a love story. A companion piece to Suddenly 50.
FIRESIDE MUNSCH Stories by Robert Munch. Adapted and performed by M. John Kennedy. Directed by Dahlia Katz. A bonus Brand New Stages show featuring beloved stories for kids (of all ages!), Fireside Munsch is a high-energy, captivating show that was nominated for 8 Dora Awards.

New Stages proudly presents a staged reading of The Boy in the Moon by Emil Sher, based on the book by Ian Brown. This is the unforgettable, Dora-Award-winning play about life and parenthood and so much more—based on the true story of the life of Walker, son of renowned Canadian writers Ian Brown and Johanna Schneller.
This deeply moving play tells the story of a couple raising a child born with the rare cardiofaciocutaneous syndrome. Emotionally honest without veering into sentimentality, this play has received overwhelming acclaim and is a remarkable gift for audiences.

Serving Elizabeth

New Stages concludes our 2024-25 season with a delightful staged reading of Serving Elizabeth by Marcia Johnson. Inspired by–and in direct opposition to–an episode in the Netflix series The Crown, Serving Elizabeth re-imagines from a Kenyan perspective the story of when a young Princess Elizabeth visits Kenya and learns that she has become Queen of England.
A crowd-pleasing, thought-provoking hit at the Stratford Festival, Serving Elizabeth is all about our fascination with the royals, the impacts of colonialism, and the unseen biases that influence how stories are told today.
