Emily Burgess and The Emburys: Never Ending Fling

How do you follow up a year where you’ve been named the Maple Blues Newcomer of The Year (must be one of those ten year overnight success stories I guess) and toured across Canada with your band multiple times – in the same year? You release a stunning sophomore record that is sure to find it’s way on to Top Ten lists of music fans everywhere. The cast of players on this record reads like a who’s who of Canadian undermined and underappreciated artists – Ryan and Sam Weber, Marcus and Rico Browne, Dawson McManus, Shai Peer, Jimmy Bowskill and with the production team of James McKenty and Ryan Weber how could this record not be anything but incredible? The performances on this record manage to capture the lightning in a bottle of their live performances. The vocal arrangements are air tight and players bring sheer magic to the songs. Is that Stevie Wonder playing keys on Gift Of The Gab (I Need Your Love)? Black and Blue opens the record with a rollicking blues infused stomp and the band don’t look back. Make sure to check out their record release show November 16th at The Gordon Best Theatre – you won’t regret it – and don’t forget to grab a copy of the record – it’s truly something special.
