PETERBOROUGH, ONTARIO Peterborough Symphony Orchestra (PSO) is pleased to announce their premiere online concert broadcast on Saturday, December 19, 2020 at 7:30 p.m. to be viewed from the comfort of your home.  Tis the season! Enjoy a fun and uplifting online holiday concert broadcast featuring the PSO Brass Quintet: Paul Otway and Doug Sutherland, Trumpets; Jane Mackay, Horn; and Al Carter, Tuba. PSO Music Director Michael Newnham makes a special return to playing Trombone for this concert to become the fifth member of the group. An hour long program of all genres of music for brass, from Baroque through Dixieland and Jazz, all inspired by the holidays.

The Peterborough Symphony Orchestra is committed to presenting high quality orchestral performances, education and outreach in the communities we serve. For over 50 years, it has been a cultural cornerstone of the Peterborough community, and has a reputation as one of the finest community-based orchestras in Canada. Founded in 1967, the symphony now has approximately 40 regular players, comprised of a core of volunteer musicians and five professional principal string players. The orchestra participates at community events including Peterborough Pulse, area farmers’ markets, and special performances and festivals, including Peterborough’s Canada150 celebrations, Cirque Musica 2017, Artsweek Peterborough and Peterborough Musicfest 2017.
