I am Rhys Morgan McClean. I was born in Toronto and live in the Beaches area of the city with my parents and siblings. At the age of 4 years old, I knew I wanted to be a performer when I grew up. I began taking hip hop classes while in junior kindergarten and started taking guitar lessons soon after. In time, I began going to musical theatre, improv and acting camps as well as learning drums and karate. Today, I am in grade 11 at Wexford School for the Arts focussing on drama, musical theatre and dance. I have had many opportunities to perform at school in my first two years – the musicals Rent and Hair being the highlights so far. In addition, I belong to a dance studio where I compete in hip hop, tap, lyrical and contemporary dance. I continue to take karate and recently received my brown belt. I hope to test for my black belt next spring.
Prior to joining STRUTT Central about a year ago, I performed in the Opening Ceremonies of the Pan Am Games choreographed by Cirque du Soleil, I acted in a short tv film and I was showcased in a charitable dance festival. I began looking for an agency to represent me when an actor on the set of the short tv film recommended STRUTTCentral. My first booking with STRUTT Central was for a role in the play “Bloom: A Rock’n’Roll Fable” at 4th Line Theatre this past July (a month long run, 21+ performances). In September, I acted in a TV pilot/demo as well as in a commercial for a US insurance company and many more bookings to come!
I know I am very fortunate to have been given many great opportunities and experiences in the past. I am determined to continue working passionately in pursuit of my goal to have a fullfilling career in the performing arts.
